Upcoming Retreat – Seeing With Fresh Eyes: Encountering the Risen Christ
A 6-day guided Conteplative Photography Retreat that provides an opportunity to see with fresh eyes and hear with fresh ears as we contemplate our world with a camera and listen to the Post Resurrection encounters with the Risen Christ as recorded in the Gospels.
Upcoming Retreat – In the Company of Women: Creative Encounters
Five stand-alone weekends spread across the year.
Each weekend is an opportunity for us all, women and men, to hear and see the Good News through the words and the lives of named and unnamed women in the Gospels and allow these women to speak into your life.
There will be the opportunity to enter and explore each story through Lectio Divina, poetry, Visio Divina, photography, labyrinth walks, art, midrash and silence. Spiritual accompaniment will also be available with the retreat team.
Hearing Voices We Don’t Want to Hear, Seeing Those We Don’t Want to See.
Can we welcome all? Can we hear voices that we may not want to hear; see those that we may not want to see? Over the past few weeks, we have been reflecting on what it means to be a welcoming and inclusive community. I am inspired by the mission of Wayside Chapel- creating community with “no us and them.” Can we be a community that welcomes all, such there is “no us and them?” Where our judgements dissolve and we provide a safe place, where all welcome? How might today’s readings invite us to deeply reflect and lead to us be more inclusive, individually and communally?
Are these the story we want to hear? Are these the stories we need to hear?
A Reflection on Mark 6:14-29 at the End of NAIDOC Week 2021offered for Pitt St Uniting Church via Zoom on Sunday 11 July 2021. The Gosepl story of the beheading of John the Baptist is relevant today.
